Heidelberg planning for the future
The German printing firm Heidelberg have recently held a Packaging Day event to showcase a number of new innovations within the company. The event, which attracted more than 400 people from businesses worldwide, included an opportunity to see the Primefire 106. This is a digital press which has been developed for industrial packaging printing.
According to the Heidelberg product specification web page, benefits of this new machine include: a 7-colour inkjet system which covers up to 95 percent of the Pantone colour space, a native resolution of 1,200 × 1,200 dpi for maximum printing quality at up to 2,500 sheets per hour, suitability for food compliant production printing and environmentally friendly standards in recyclability and sustainability.
Rainer Hundsdörfer, Chief Executive Officer of Heidelberg, spoke of the innovations present in the range of products being demonstrated as well as the positive impact the equipment has had on businesses who utilise it within their work. He told attendees: “With this range, Heidelberg cements its position as the leader in packaging printing and provides answers to current and future requirements in the age of digitisation. We make our customers more productive and therefore also more profitable.”
As well as new presses and packaging solutions being demonstrated at the event, information was also provided in different sessions entitled “Packaging as you like,” “Operational Excellence,” and “Special Applications”. Information in these presentations identified industry trends and developments as well as examples of how Heidelberg is addressing these in their work.
